Introduction Sergel 40 mg is a medicine used to reduce excess acid production in the stomach. It contains Esomeprazole, which belongs to a group of medicines known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). This medicine is commonly used to treat acid reflux, heartburn, gastritis, and stomach ulcers. By decreasing stomach acid, it helps relieve symptoms and allows the stomach lining to heal. Uses Treatment of acid reflux (GERD) Relief from heartburn and acid indigestion Treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers Prevention of ulcers caused by pain medicines (NSAIDs) Treatment of H. pylori infection with antibiotics Side Effects Some people may experience mild side effects such as: Headache Nausea Diarrhea Stomach pain Gas or bloating These side effects are usually mild and temporary. Doses The dose depends on the patient’s condition and doctor’s advice. Acid reflux / GERD: 20–40 mg once daily Stomach ulcer: 20–40 mg once daily Other acid-related conditions: As prescribed by a doctor It is usually taken once daily before meals, preferably in the morning.
